Installing the WordPress engine is easy!
This is a useful article for those who want to make their own website in a few minutes. CMS WordPress is considered to be one of the simplest and most practical systems for managing a site. Installing the WordPress engine is possible for anyone who has an Internet connection. Follow our instructions and you will succeed!
For your site, you definitely need a domain (name) and hosting (the place on the server where the site materials will be placed). They can be bought from hosting providers by paying with electronic money, a card or a bank transfer.
When choosing a hoster (service provider), pay attention to the conditions that it offers. For WordPress to work, it is important that the hosting supports PHP version 4.1 and higher, and also works with MySQL databases version 3.23.23 and higher. Do not be alarmed! Information about this is indicated in the description of the tariff package. Almost all modern paid hosting services have such features.
So, you bought a domain and hosting. Save all the links, logins and passwords that the hoster sent you during registration. You will need them for further work with the site. This will be the data for the ftp connection, for entering the direct and billing panels.
Wait a few hours (2 to 24) until they connect. How to know “already or not already”? Type in the address bar of your future site in the browser bar and go to it. Is something like “webpage unavailable” displayed? It is too early. A page opens with a logo and an inscription like “Upload your site …”? It’s time!
First you need to create a database on your hosting. To do this, you must go to the “direct-panel” (using the login information sent by the hoster) and find the “databases” / “create databases” window. Do not be embarrassed if the wording is slightly different.
Feel free to click “create database” and indicate:
name of the new database;
password from the database.
Save these values in a text document.
You can download the WordPress distribution kit (engine) from the official website http://ru.wordpress.org/. Always download the latest version of CMS (and if you are not an expert on English, and do not make a site for foreigners) in Russian. Do not download the distribution from third-party sites!
Your next steps:
1. Unpack the archive with the engine.
2. Find the file WP-CONFIG-SAMPLE.php.
3. Open it with a simple notepad or Notepad ++ program.
4. In the corresponding lines you enter the values that you registered when registering the database. For example: / ** Database name for WordPress * / define (‘DB_NAME’, ‘putyourdbnamehere’). Here, instead of “putyourdbnamehere”, you write the name with the case of letters.
5. Do the same with the name and password. Change them to “usernamehere” and “yourpasswordhere” respectively.
6. Click “save as” and specify a new name – “WP-CONFIG.php”.
7. The source file in which we worked must be deleted.
Direct installation of the WordPress engine
Connect to hosting via ftp. You can establish a connection in Total Commander, but it is more convenient and safer to use the Filezilla program for these purposes. Use the connection data sent by your hosting provider.
Are you connected? Now you need to copy the contents of the folder formed after unpacking the archive with WordPress. We are interested in exactly the contents – select all the files and folders and copy them to the root directory of the hosting. This is usually the folder “public_html” or “htdocs”.
The duration of the copy depends on the speed of your Internet connection and is usually 1-3 minutes. Wait until the copying of files is completed, and write in the browser line: yoursite.ru / wp-admin / install.php. Instead of “yoursite.ru” enter the address of your site.
Did the installation page open? All done right! Fill in all the lines (the name of your site, your personal email, administrator name and password). We do not recommend using the standard “admin” – why give attackers an extra reason? Create a strong password that cannot be guessed by guessing. Do not use the primitive “password12345”, “qwerty” and the like.
Click “login” and in the window that opens, enter the administrator username and password that you just specified. Congratulations! Installation of the WordPress engine is complete. At the very beginning of working with the site, you should perform several required actions.
Priority WordPress Settings
By accessing the site with an administrator password, you find yourself in the management console. On the left side of the screen is a panel on which all available site settings are displayed. Remember: all actions to add new pages and posts, media files, plugins, products (as well as deletion) are carried out here.
First of all, we are interested in the “Settings” tab. Fill in all the lines in it, indicating the name and brief description of the site, address (specify the same URL for the site and wordpress), settings for displaying the date and time.
